Vog Supporting Students

At Vog, mentorship and learning are a key part of our company culture. Offering internships to local post secondary students is an important part of facilitating mentorship in the broader community and provides university students with a variety of backgrounds to gain real life experience. One of the students that Vog onboarded this semester was Jeffrey Liu, a 4th year student at the University of Calgary studying Business and Technology Management. When Vog offered Jeffrey a chance to join the team for an internship, he knew immediately that Vog was the place for him.

We spoke with Jeffrey about his experience with Vog to share with all of you.

What position do you hold at Vog?

I was hired as a Project Coordinator. This allows me to have a hand in the app development process and ensure that everyone has the answers so that the process goes smoothly. A lot of my role is documentation so that the client’s vision can come to life.

What brought you to Vog?

As a 4th year student majoring in Business and Technology Management, I was searching for opportunities that would get my foot in the door of tech. The University of Calgary has a job board called CareerLink. This is where I found the opportunity to work for Vog as a Project Coordinator.

If you could describe Vog in one sentence, what would it be?

If I could describe Vog is one sentence I would day that “Vog is a company that values teamwork and if filled with opportunities.”

Whats next for you?

I am passionate about technology, and so I would like to continue to utilize my knowledge and skillset. In school I learned about creating process maps, enterprise systemes, and databases, and I would love to use it to help streamline mobile application development. I would also like to use my technical skills in programming specifically in VBA, Python and R, to explore the development side of the job. 

What is the most fulfilling part of your job?

The most fulfilling part of my role at Vog is being able to help clients pursue their passion. Through my role, I help clients bring their vision to life through web and app development. Vog prides themselves on building more than an app, but helping build a business. It is nice to see my work come to fruition, and see that my contributions have a purpose.
